Warm Green Winter Smoothie Recipe

In Chinese Medicine, rigorous detoxing is almost never recommended because of the way it can actually throw your body out of balance in the opposite direction. Instead of harsh detoxification, we recommend nourishing of the digestive system and a gentle clean-out.  And while drinking cold smoothies has been considered a healthy practice in the West, too much cold and raw in the Stomach can actually cause a deficiency of the Spleen and Stomach organ system over time . In Chinese Medicine, cold and raw food and drink are seldom recommended except in the summer.  To keep your digestive fire intact and your metabolism boosted for the long run, it is best to eat and drink warm and cooked foods. While this smoothie is still raw, using warm or room temp water, as well as having ginger as a key ingredient, helps to protect the digestive fire that is essential for great metabolism.
